To the Manner Born Afternoon Tea

Our 'To the Manner Born' experience offers an unforgettable journey into old-world charm and sophistication. Your guests are invited to delve into the art of embodying the quintessential English gentleman and lady.

The experience commences with an exploration of captivating British heritage, including mastering the nuances of a British accent, the proper etiquette for bowing and curtsying if they encounter royalty, and engaging in a light-hearted competition to identify the “poshest” British word, with a small prize awaiting the winner.

Following this fun immersion, your guests will discover the art of savouring afternoon tea properly under the guidance of our principal. They will learn how to enjoy the sandwiches gracefully, how to break a scone and expertly layer the cream and jam, and, of course, proper tea etiquette.

A Quintessentially British Luncheon
Our 'Quintessentially British Luncheon' experience engages everyone in the group in a delightful game of croquet on a lush, perfectly manicured lawn of one of our luxurious country house hotels, followed by a delicious two-course luncheon.
We begin by carefully selecting teams, and the friendly competition commences where your guests can immerse themselves in the tranquil charm of the English countryside. Refreshing glasses of Pimms and a variety of soft drinks will be offered.
After the exciting game of croquet ends and the victorious team is announced, your guests will be escorted to an exclusive private dining area within the charming hotel. Here, they will indulge in a two-course luncheon amidst a refined ambience.

In the event of rain, our To the Manor Born experience activities will replace the croquet game within the private dining room.

Your guests are invited to step into the British aristocracy's Social Season. They will have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the historical background of our English summer events, their contemporary expectations, comprehensive dress codes, and anticipated protocols for attendance. This unique experience is a chance to learn about British society and culture like never before.
Over a delicious three-course luncheon in one of our beautiful Cotswold country house hotel's private dining rooms, guests will learn about the tradition of debutantes being presented at court, the societal elite of the Regency era, known as the ton, the Social Season events, and the unwavering British class systems, all accompanied by British dining etiquette.

From a simple dinner at a local restaurant to attending a State Banquet at Buckingham Palace, Emma will equip your guests with the knowledge to navigate any British dining occasion quickly and confidently while enjoying a beautiful meal in stunning Cotswold surroundings.
Throughout the meal, they will also have the opportunity to ask our principal questions about British etiquette, customs, and traditions, ensuring they leave enlightened and entertained.
